- The big story this week is the war between WWF and WCW over exclusive access to certain arenas. WWF, being the larger and more dominant of the two organizations, has successfully been able to block WCW from major arenas in many cities, forcing WCW to hold their events in smaller, crappier secondary venues. There are questions about the legality of this practice under restraint-of-trade laws, but WCW hasn't challenged it in court yet. St. Louis is currently ground zero, with only one arena that has an exclusive deal with WWF. However, WCW has made a big push to get into the building, even threatening legal action against the arena if they are blocked. WWF is threatening to pull out of their deal and no longer hold shows in St. Louis if WCW is allowed in. However, there are about two dozen other cities throughout the United States where WCW is trying to make in-roads despite WWF opposition.
- Latest is that Sid Vicious will be using the same name in WWF (nope) and will be released from his WCW contract on May 20th and will be debuting for WWF at the next TV tapings.
- Due to his role in perhaps initiating the Earthquake/Kitao mess, Great Kabuki has been relegated to being in lower card/opening matches in Japan as punishment.
- Some guy named Steve Austin, who has been working in USWA in Memphis for the last couple years, is leaving there to go work for WCW.
- Dino Bravo has quit WWF but most expect him to return in a few months (yup, briefly).
- Scott Hall, wrestling as a character named The Diamond Stud (managed by Diamond Dallas Page) debuted in a tryout match before the latest WCW TV tapings and did well enough that he'll probably get a job.
