- Last year's Wrestlemania 6 buyrate was a disappointment that WWF has blamed on a face vs. face main event headlining the show. Despite the controversy surrounding the Slaughter angle, WWF is hopeful that the face vs. heel main event will translate into more PPV buys this year. Between the PPV cut and live gate, Meltzer predicts WM7 will net the company around a $7 million gross, which would be the lowest since WM2.
- Things are getting nasty between Vince McMahon's World Bodybuilding Federation and the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilders), with each side taking shots at the other in their respective magazines. But if Vince is successful, he could change bodybuilding and run the competition out of business just like he did the territories, by marketing it away from the hardcore fans and turning it into a circus that is more palatable to mainstream audiences, and if that is successful and the competition doesn't adapt, they could end up like Verge Gagne: stuck in the past, still trying to appeal to die-hard fans while McMahon goes for the mainstream crowds. (I'm sure the WBF will be a huge success, let's just wait and see!)
- In Mexico, they are building up to a Perro Aguayo vs. Konnan match, which will be Konnan's last match there, as he is coming to WWF afterwards....
- SEE: Konnan in the WWF
- Jesse Ventura recently became the mayor of Brooklyn Park, MN and the Minneapolis newspaper ran a long article criticizing Ventura for the way he dresses, saying a mayor should wear a coat and tie to uphold the dignity of the office. Ventura, of course, DGAF and has talked about running for the senate after his term as mayor ends (or, yanno, maybe governor...)
- Shane Douglas has quit WWF (I totally forgot he was there for about a year in 90-91).
- Sgt. Slaughter is telling friends he will be turning face soon after Wrestlemania. And he really does wear a bulletproof vest now when out in public for his protection due to the storyline.
- At a house show, during a Warrior/Slaughter cage match, a fan jumped the rail and managed to climb the cage and get into the ring, jumping on the back of one of the Nasty Boys that was helping to triple team Warrior. The fan was arrested.
- After Wrestlemania, the Hart Foundation tag team will likely be split up and Bret will be given a singles push.
- WCW is looking to bring in Owen Hart to form a tag team with Bryan Pillman called Wings. However, they may still want to push Pillman as a singles star so that's all still up in the air.
- A new event is scheduled for May called SuperBrawl and it will become an annual event.
- Ric Flair was hospitalized with 3rd degree burns after spilling scalding hot coffee on himself at McDonalds (this is a year before that famous case!) He was supposed to miss a week of action but was already back in action a day or two later.
- Jim Ross apologized on TV for "chauvinistic" comments he made about Missy Hyatt at Clash of the Champions XIV.
