- A sports marketing group did a national survey for ad agencies and "World Wrestling Federation pro wrestling" ranked as the most hated and disliked sport in the United States, out of 114 different sports. This got a ton of mainstream coverage in the press, despite the fact that WWF is by no means the only pro wrestling organization in America. However, because the survey was for adults and WWF primarily targets children, the results of the survey shouldn't hurt them too much with advertisers, although it certainly won't help. Luckily, the survey was conducted before the Sgt. Slaughter angle or it might have been worse (how do you get worse than last place?)
- WWF wrestling was twice as popular among males than females, which isn't bad actually. It's about the same male-to-female ratio as other sports like the NBA or MLB. It's also seen as lower class entertainment (i.e. wrasslin' that dumb hicks like), however WWF's marketing and aligning themselves with big celebrities has helped with that perception (and probably explains why they still do it today).
- Lucha libre wrestler Eddie Guerrero wrestled a dark match prior to WCW's WrestleWar 91 PPV.
- Speaking of WrestleWar, in the War Games match, Brian Pillman was legit injured when his feet hit the top of the cage on a Sid Vicious powerbomb. He went to the hospital after the match but isn't expected to miss too much time. Dave says this match is one of the best he's ever seen live and gave it the full 5-stars.
- Speaking of WrestleWar, the WWF ran a show nearby the night before and kept the show going till nearly midnight, hoping to leech ticket sales away from WCW's event, figuring most fans probably won't go to two wrestling events on back-to-back nights, especially if they were out late the night before. That's just some shady shit right there. Speaking of, they're still doing the post-match angle where Warrior strips Sherri to her underwear and then beats her up and she does a stretcher job, which seems to be turning off a lot of parents in the crowds.
- Missy Hyatt is dating Wonder Years child actor Jason Hervey.
- Chris Benoit has signed a three-year contract with New Japan.
- The Owen Hart/Brian Pillman tag team called Wings has been thrown out now because Pillman will be getting a major singles push when he returns from the WrestleWar injury. Owen is still expected to debut with the company soon (Owen ended up working about a dozen matches for WCW in 1991.)
- Tugboat is expected to leave WWF for WCW soon (nope, not for another 2 years....and oh, what a memorable night it would be)
- Update on Shane Douglas leaving, the split was amicable. Douglas' father is gravely ill, so Shane wanted off the road to care for him and in the meantime has taken a job teaching children with learning disabilities. Both sides expect he'll return to WWF eventually.
